If there is anything I’ve proven to myself over the last few years, it’s that there is there is always a purpose, a potential in every situation, no matter how dire it may seem at the moment.
“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.” – Napoleon Hill
It’s especially difficult to see that seed in the midst of a crisis, when it feels like the world is crumbling down – your emotions range from hopelessness to rage, and relief is nowhere to be found. But if you deliberately look for it – if you set your goal to find the gems – you’ll see them right there in plain sight.
The current political situation in the U.S. is a perfect example of a crisis on a large scale. Almost all of my friends – in US and Europe – are having a difficult time coping with news from Washington that seem to get progressively more frightening every day.
So what good can possibly come out of all this? Will the president’s actions have the supposed positive consequences he promised? I doubt it. But I already see many signs of something even better emerging as a result.
This turmoil is creating a shake-up deep within every individual, who’s more or less aware of what’s going on in the world. Almost everyone is faced with very difficult decisions, and this is already causing people to wake up by the millions. People march in peaceful protest, as we’ve seen with the recent Women’s March, which was the largest in the history of the US. People put their careers on the line and defy orders. More and more people are standing up for their morals, for what they believe is right.
When a person makes a new choice – one they haven’t made before, a choice that is empowering and heart-centered – this moment marks a step toward personal freedom. The current crisis is sending waves of these moments through millions of people around the world, and we’re all waking up to our real potential.
What could possibly be good in the fact that all world leaders are corrupt liars? It’s making each individual on the planet claim his or her own sovereignty. It’s a gift, if you think about it. Every person is eventually faced with a very difficult choice: a) I can suffer a victim’s fate, or b) I accept responsibility for my life, stop hoping that some leader will fix the world, and lead by example.
Elisabet Sahtouris and Teresa Collins described a beautiful analogy found in an intricate biological system right here in your backyard:
The more each one of us stops trying to fight what’s going on around them wishing it was different than it is, and realize that it’s the old falling away, the easier it will be. If I feel different from it, then my reference point needs to be inside, at the center of every cell that’s oscillating with this new frequency, and let myself be connected to it. It’s massive, and it’s waking up to itself. Each one of us is an integral part of it. Who knows how long it will take for this “ripple” to move through, but the momentum at a certain point is going to trip the system – at some point there will be a mass trigger, and it’s going to wave through the DNA mutation, etc. It will ripple through at every scale of existence, and, as it’s rippling, it will be going back on itself with that energy, and bouncing off again – it will be a tsunami! But if you relax, it will be the most exhilarating ride! You have to really relax into the current of it, so that – from the inside – you’re being moved into the same direction as the leap, so you have to be generative and engaged by how you’re responding to everything that’s happening. This will unfold over a stretch of time, but individuals are starting to wake up to this now. These individuals are tuning in to the frequency and creating attractor fields for more imaginal cells to stabilize and to create fields of coherence. There are now individuals, organizations and communities that get this principle.
Do we need a majority, in order to change the world? No, evolution is not a democracy. To create a beautiful butterfly, the world needs just one more imaginal cell. The world needs you.
